ARTS & CULTURE
Pergamon Museum
With circa 850,000 visitors per year this museum is Berlin’s most visited. Here you can find three museums in just one: The Classical Antiquities Collection, the Museum of the Ancient Near East and the Museum of Islamic Art. In the Collection of Classical Antiquities there is a wide range of architecture and sculptures of ancient Hellenistic and Roman periods. Highlights of the collections include reconstructions of the Ishtar Gate and the Procession Road from Babylon, the Market Gate from Miletus and the Mshatta Façade and last but not least the famous Pergamon Altar with its impressive sculptured friezes depicting the Gods fighting the Giants. All in all fantastic masterpieces of ancient art.
